Governor Chris Christie is implicated in Bridgegate Scandal again

David Wildstein, a former top aide to New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, testified in court Tuesday that Christie was aware of his administration's involvement in the artificial creation of a multiple day traffic jam on the George Washington Bridge in 2013. Wildstein testified that he informed Christie of the administration's involvement in the traffic jam on the third day and that Christie "joked" about the traffic jam. According to Wildstein, Christie did not admonish him or any of the other members of the Christie Administration, nor did he express any concern over the plight of those who still were involved in the traffic jam when joking about it.

An elderly woman, who was unable to get to her medications, succumbed to her illness and died on the George Washington Bridge. Paramedics were unable to get to the woman because of the cars that were caught in the traffic jam.

The contrived traffic jam was seen as retribution to Fort Lee, New Jersey Mayor Mark Sokolich, (D), for failing to endorse Christie in his re-election campaign. An email from another administration official to Wildstein emerged months after the traffic jam ensued. In that email, the statement, "Time for some traffic problems in Fort Lee" was uncovered and the administration's ties to the scandal became known.

Two Christie Administration officials, Bridget Kelly and Bill Baroni, are under indictment in the case right now. Christie has maintained his innocence throughout the investigation into the incident and has stated that he had "no prior knowledge" of the traffic jam or the incidents that led up to it.

It is believed that Christie will testify on the matter as well; although it will be hard to go up against Wildstein's testimony, since he has been given immunity from prosecution for his testimony.
